Fighting COVID-19 with Saliva: SalivaBio and Salimetrics Build Infrastructure to Supply Millions of Saliva Collection Devices for Low-Cost COVID-19 Saliva Testing
SalivaBio, together with Salimetrics and the salivary bioscience community, is working with partners to provide more than two million of its Saliva Collection Aids (SCAs) as early as September. The Saliva Collection Aid (SCA) is a low-cost saliva collection device that is easy and simple for participants to use to collect a high-quality saliva sample directly into a standard laboratory tube, thus eliminating a sample processing step, often a bottleneck for a lab. The patented design of the SCA is scalable, and this additional investment by SalivaBio will increase capacity to over four million per month as early as October, with the potential of one million per day by the end of the year.
